The Fourth Trimester Postpartum CIC Safeguarding Policy
1. Introduction
The Fourth Trimester Postpartum CIC is committed to creating and maintaining a safe and positive environment for all individuals associated with our activities. This Safeguarding Policy outlines our commitment to safeguarding children, young people, and vulnerable adults who participate in our programs or come into contact with our services.
2. Scope
This policy applies to all individuals involved in the activities and operations of The Fourth Trimester Postpartum CIC, including but not limited to employees, volunteers, contractors, and participants. A summary of the key legislation and guidance is available from nspcc.org.uk/childprotection.
3. Principles
The Fourth Trimester Postpartum CIC is committed to the following safeguarding principles:
Promoting Welfare: We will take all reasonable steps to ensure the well-being of children, young people, and vulnerable adults.
Prevention: We will take measures to prevent harm and reduce the risk of abuse or neglect.
Recognition: We will be vigilant and responsive to signs of abuse, neglect, or inappropriate behavior.
Reporting: We will take appropriate action to report and respond to concerns or allegations of abuse promptly.
Confidentiality: Information will be handled confidentially and shared only on a need-to-know basis in line with legal requirements.
4. Roles and Responsibilities
Designated Safeguarding Officer (DSO): Grace Williams is designated as the primary point of contact for safeguarding concerns. They will receive appropriate training and support to carry out their role effectively.
Staff and Volunteers: All staff and volunteers have a responsibility to be aware of and follow this policy, report concerns promptly, and participate in relevant training.
5. Recruitment and Training
The Fourth Trimester Postpartum CIC will ensure that all staff and volunteers working with children, young people, and vulnerable adults undergo appropriate recruitment procedures, including DBS checks where necessary. Training on safeguarding will be provided regularly.
6. Reporting Concerns
Any concerns or allegations of abuse, neglect, or inappropriate behavior will be taken seriously and responded to promptly. Concerns should be reported to the Designated Safeguarding Officer.
Anyone can make a referral for children, young people or adults who might be at risk of abuse and in need of safeguarding.

7. Responding to Concerns
The Fourth Trimester Postpartum CIC will follow the appropriate procedures for responding to safeguarding concerns, including making referrals to the relevant authorities when necessary.
8. Review and Monitoring
This policy will be regularly reviewed and updated as necessary to ensure its effectiveness. Monitoring mechanisms will be in place to assess compliance.
