We are a Community Interest Company (CIC) that supports families in the postpartum.
A CIC is a limited company that is specifically a non-profit. Any profits are invested back into the services we provide. It’s amazing, as it means we can offer reduced prices for many of our offerings as well as lots of freebies too!
All of our work feeds back into at least one of the following strategic priorities. These are what drive us forward and keeps us focussed.
To recognise and support the identity shifts of matrescence as a normal and transformative part of becoming a parent.
To create a range of opportunities for postpartum individuals and their babies to connect in safe, supportive spaces.
Equip people with the knowledge, tools, and relational skills to become postpartum professionals and deliver compassionate, inclusive, and personalised care.
Our team here at the Fourth have one thing in common, our focus is on supporting families in the postpartum.
Founder and Director
I’m a mum of three, wife of one and pet mama to Chai, Twiglet and Miffy our guinea pigs. We moved to Devon in 2011 and I became a postpartum doula in 2018 after experiencing two very different postpartums and wondering why society didn’t support new families more.
In addition to being a doula, I am a breastfeeding peer supporter, a Building Babies Brains Champion and a Peep Learning Together Practitioner.
I’m an intersectional feminist and champion of inclusion so that all families are supported in their journey after birth.
I’ve lost count of the number of times I have talked about my work as a postpartum doula and heard parents say ‘I wish I had support like that when I had my baby.’
The Fourth is here so that more families do.
Co-Director
I'm a Cambridgeshire Mama of 2 boys, founder of Mama's tlc and a hypnobirthing, antenatal, baby massage and baby yoga expert.
I re-trained as a hypnobirthing teacher in 2019 after the birth of my first son, Leo. I wanted to provide better evidence-based information and support for parents preparing for birth. And, after the birth of Robin, my second son, I trained in baby massage and yoga to provide warm, friendly and inclusive spaces where parents can build a community and feel supported and heard.
I'm really delighted to be part of The Fourth, supporting postpartum families in life after birth.
Co- Director
I'm a mama, auntie and foster carer.
I’m also a birth worker, postnatal doula, parental mental health peer support worker and a 0-5 years practitioner. I’m a neurodivergent mama raising a neurodivergent son, doing everything I can to help parents and families on a similar path.
I specialise in developmental play for children, am private portage worker and all round supporter of you! My goal is to make sure families are thriving, not just surviving.
Bookkeeper & Admin
I am a Nottingham birth and postnatal doula, hypnobirthing teacher and birth trauma practitioner. I entered the birth world after the birth of my daughter and have been supporting families through pregnancy, birth and postnatal throughout Nottinghamshire and online.
I love supporting families and it is why I have joined the Fourth using my experience and knowledge of all things administration and doula to support them in supporting families across Devon and growing The Fourth!
Volunteer
I recently stepped away from a career in marketing to begin training as a student midwife, following a long held passion for women’s health and women supporting women.
I care a lot about honest, open conversations around pregnancy, birth and postpartum life, the joy, the hard times, and everything in between and I love being someone families can talk to, feel heard by, and feel supported by.
Volunteering at The Fourth means so much to me because it allows me to be part of a community that truly centres families, compassion, and connection in the postpartum period.
Breastfeeding Peer Supporter
I’m a stay-at-home mum to two girls (aged six and three) and a volunteer breastfeeding peer supporter with The Fourth.
After having my eldest during the COVID lockdowns, I experienced first-hand how isolating breastfeeding can feel without in-person support — especially when you don’t have friends or family members who have breastfed themselves.
That experience inspired me to support other families, offering a listening ear, encouragement, and evidence-based information. My aim is to help parents feel confident, supported, and empowered in whatever direction their feeding journey takes.
Breastfeeding Peer Support
I am a mum of two and currently on maternity leave from being a chiropractor and Pilates instructor and soaking up this time with my babies!
Having had a tricky start to breastfeeding with both of my children I was super excited when the opportunity to become a breastfeeding peer support worker came up and I can’t wait to support those who need help on their feeding journeys!
Breastfeeding Peer Supporter
I'm a mum of two young girls and am currently on maternity leave from my role as a local primary teacher. I cannot believe how quickly my little one is growing up!
I first attended The Fourth as a parent and loved how welcoming the group was. Walking into Nurture and Nest on a Monday morning always gave me a sense of calm.
After experiencing a challenging start to breastfeeding with my eldest, I often attended a group in Paignton to seek advice from peer supporters. The encouragement and information I received meant that I was able to feed my daughter until she self‑weaned. I was delighted when The Fourth offered the opportunity to become a peer supporter. I hope I can offer an approachable, encouraging and information‑led voice. Being a new parent is hard and I know you are doing an amazing job.
